Pain Management
Pain is the body’s way of alerting you that something has gone awry in your system and that there is stagnation in the body. Acupuncture needles treat stagnation by stimulating blood and Qi which can relieve both acute and chronic pain. Trauma to a specific area, bruising, scarring or injury can cause blockages in the system and affect the entire body. Acupuncture needles can be inserted directly at the site of pain, as well as distally, to move Qi and blood to the affected area. At the Sher Acupuncture Center, we commonly treat ailments such as headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, back pain, knee pain, neck pain and shoulder mobility.
Emotional Wellness
At the Sher Acupuncture Center, we have a created a calm, soothing environment where the combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbs will help to relax your system, calm your mind and rebalance your emotions. Acupuncture relieves stress, depression and anxiety by activating the parasympathetic nervous system which leads to calm and relaxation. Acupuncture also helps to regulate our hormones, such as serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine and stimulates the body’s production of endorphins. When treating patients with emotional issues we focus on the meridians, acupuncture points and Chinese herbs that help harmonize the body, mind and spirit.
Fertility, Pregnancy and Sexual Health
At the Sher Acupuncture Center, we believe acupuncture and Chinese medicine are extremely effective at treating both male and female sexual health issues. We treat the underlying causes and symptoms of gynecological issues such as irregular menstrual cycles, endometriosis, low libido, menopause and premenstrual syndrome. We also have extensive experience treating fertility and pregnancy issues. At the Sher Acupuncture Center, we increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy and act as a trusted support system during IVF and IUI treatments. During pregnancy, we treat morning sickness, lower back pain, pelvic pain, sleeplessness, and can also help turn a baby from a breech position.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture naturally helps make the skin look younger, smoother and healthier. Unlike injection treatments, facial acupuncture addresses both the signs of aging and the skin's overall health. Needles placed on the face encourage the skin's own repairing mechanisms to stimulate cell re-growth, which subsequently increases the production of collagen and elastin. With multiple treatments, this translates to fewer wrinkles and smoother, more toned skin.
Digestion
At the Sher Acupuncture Center, we believe that acupuncture is very successful at treating stomach disorders. We regularly treat patients with conditions such as acid reflux, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease and colitis. The three most important things we focus on with respect to digestive issues are controlling emotions, eating a proper diet of clean, warm foods and regular acupuncture treatments combined with Chinese herbs. By treating these underlying conditions we can strengthen the digestive system and give our patients long lasting results.
Immunity
The combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbs can have tremendous success with strengthening the immune system. Regular acupuncture sessions can prevent colds or the flu, especially during the winter months. Wei Qi is the body’s first line of defense against external factors that cause illness. In a healthy person, the Wei Qi activates the immune system to fight off pathogens and illness. Alternatively, when the system is weak and foreign pathogens overwhelm the body, sickness, such as colds, the flu and allergies are the result. At the Sher Acupuncture Center, our goal is to help keep your Wei Qi and immune system strong to prevent illness and disease.
