I like to see patients two months before they start the IVF, IUI, or egg-freezing cycles. I encourage patients to come in one to two times a week. It helps me regulate the cycles, balance out the hormones, and regulate one’s emotions.

How acupuncture helps fertility

1. It helps to improve blood flow to the uterus. Estrogen is the key hormone that increases the lining of the uterus. Acupuncture helps to increase the lining by bringing more blood flow while making it a favorable environment for implantation.

2. Regulating hormones. From the start of IVF and egg freezing, a large dose of hormones is flowing in your system. The advantage of acupuncture is that it helps to increase the efficacy of the hormones while managing the side effects of the larger dosages.

3. Stress. As mentioned, IVF, IUI, and egg freezing is extremely stressful. When the body is stressed, the body produces cortisol which can affect reproductive health. Getting the body in a calm state greatly increases your odds that the reproductive body will be at its optimum level.
